Project Progress – The Final Lifts

Week 5 of our silo project: final sections lifted into place as all three Ø17m silos reached their full 20m height using mechanical lifting.
Week 5 marked one of the most visually striking stages of the project: the installation of the final silo sections. By this point, the mechanical lifting process had proven its reliability, allowing the remaining structures to be raised confidently to their full height.
As the silos approached 20 metres, precision remained critical. The final lifts required the same level of control and attention as the first, if not more.
Guiding the Final Sections
During this phase, the electrical jacks were used to raise the remaining upper sections into position. Each lift was carefully monitored to avoid introducing stress or misalignment, particularly as wind exposure increased with height.
Mechanical lifting allowed the team to:

Control movement smoothly and incrementally

Maintain accurate alignment during the final raises

Position sections without relying on large cranes
The final sections were guided into place with exacting accuracy, completing the structural shell of each silo.
Three Silos, Three Stages
One of the defining characteristics of this phase was that all three silos were visible at different stages of completion. This highlighted the efficiency of the construction sequence and the ability to manage multiple structures simultaneously.
At this point:

The third continued its upward progression
Together, the three silos formed a striking presence on site — a clear demonstration of modern mechanical construction in action.
Built with Precision, Not Force
Unlike traditional construction methods that rely heavily on cranes and manual positioning, this project demonstrated how technology and planning can replace brute force.
The electrical jacking system provided controlled, predictable lifting, allowing the final sections to be installed with confidence and consistency.
Week 5 Summary
By the end of Week 5, all silos had reached their full design height of 20 metres. The structural shells were complete, marking the end of the primary lifting phase and setting the stage for final securing, adjustments, and inspections.
